Transforming Lives Through 300 Life-Changing Surgeries in 2024

The year 2024 marked a remarkable milestone for the Humans for Peace Institution (HPI) and its dedicated medical team, as they successfully performed 300 life-changing surgeries for children in need across four countries — Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, and Ethiopia.

This extraordinary humanitarian effort reflects HPI’s ongoing commitment to promoting peace and compassion through direct action, addressing not only medical needs but also restoring hope and dignity to vulnerable communities.

A Global Mission of Healing

Throughout 2024, HPI’s volunteer doctors, nurses, and support staff worked tirelessly to provide free corrective surgeries for children suffering from congenital conditions such as cleft lip and palate, burn contractures, and other treatable deformities. Each operation represented not just a medical intervention, but a renewed chance for children to smile, learn, and grow without the barriers of stigma or physical limitation.

The missions were carried out in close collaboration with local hospitals, medical institutions, and community organizations, ensuring sustainability and capacity building in each host country.

Impact by the Numbers

  • Jordan: 85 surgeries

  • Kenya: 70 surgeries

  • Madagascar: 65 surgeries

  • Ethiopia: 80 surgeries

In addition to performing surgeries, the HPI team also conducted training workshops for local medical staff, shared surgical techniques, and donated essential medical supplies to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

“Every child we treat reminds us why we do this work,” said Dr.  Alsharif, HPI’s Medical Program Director. “Healing one child changes an entire family’s future — and that’s where true peace begins.”

Parents and local partners expressed deep gratitude for the compassion and professionalism of the HPI team, whose work brought not only physical healing but also emotional relief and empowerment to hundreds of families.
