Ottawa, May 24, 2025 — In a strong show of civic responsibility and environmental commitment, 20 volunteers from the Humans for Peace Institution took part in the annual "Clean the Capital" campaign on Saturday, May 24. The team focused their efforts on Claudette Cain Park, a beloved green space in the city's south end, known for its walking trails, riverfront, and family-friendly amenities.

Armed with gloves, garbage bags, and a sense of purpose, the volunteers spent several hours removing litter, recyclables, and debris from around the park and its surrounding areas. Their work not only enhanced the beauty of the natural environment but also contributed to a healthier, cleaner space for the local community.

“This initiative is about more than just picking up trash—it’s about fostering peace through action,” said a spokesperson from the Humans for Peace Institution. “By caring for our environment, we are also nurturing a sense of shared responsibility and community well-being.”

The City of Ottawa’s "Clean the Capital" campaign has been a long-standing tradition, encouraging residents, schools, businesses, and community groups to take part in keeping the city beautiful. This year, the campaign saw strong participation city-wide, with thousands joining in across various neighborhoods and parks.

Claudette Cain Park, nestled along the Rideau River, was one of several focus points, and the contribution from Humans for Peace Institution was widely appreciated by both city officials and residents. Their presence highlighted the important role grassroots organizations can play in sustaining public spaces and promoting civic engagement.

As the sun set on a productive day, bags of collected waste stood as a testament to the volunteers' dedication. The event concluded with a shared sense of achievement and a renewed commitment to the Institution’s mission of building peace—one park, one action at a time.
